My Make-Do Monday - March 16 & My WFMW - March 18

This Tip/Idea Works for Both
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have always struggled with the question of "where do I put my Kitchen Hand Towel?"
There is no place convenient to my sink area to hang a towel. I know some people hang a towel in the cupboard under the sink, but to me that was not convenient.
In my old house, I put a hook on the upper cupboard side by my sink, but the towel would hang down into the counter area and sometimes was in the way. I know a lot of people put the towels on their oven door handle or even the fridge handle.
But in my new kitchen, these areas are not near my sink. So after being here for two years, I finally came upon a solution that will work for me.
I took two pull lids from some canned Chef-Boy-R-Dee mini ravioli cans. Then I stacked them together so that the pull tabs were aligned.
I have plenty of space between my fake drawer front and the cabinet under the sink. I am not sure if the front was installed correctly, but it looks fine and I have space to fit my holder into it, so I am perfectly happy.
( I figured I could unscrew the front if I couldn't slip my holders in, so this might work for you if you don't have any wiggle room.)
So I took the can lids and carefully bent them a little so they would slip down into the space without catching and slicing the cabinet's finish. I urged them into the space and kept them lined up.
Then I put my towel into the pull tabs and I was done!
I now have a handy convenient towel holder right at my sink. I can slide my holder to the side so that it won't interfere with getting into the under sink cabinet, but so far I haven't done that because I don't use that side so often.
  1. Great idea! I have one on my oven door, that's fairly handy, but it would be nice to have one closer to the sink.
  2. That really works! If the towel isn't near your sink, you drip water all over... :)
  3. I LOVE it! Now that is clever, ingenius, frugal, and make-do marvelous! My fake thing doesn't have any space behind it, doggone it, so I can't copycat your stroke of brilliance. But you have inspired me to think outside the normal kitchen towel spots.
    Have a great day, and thanks for participating in Make-Do Mondays!
  7. That's a great idea. Luckily my stove is right by the sink so I keep my towel on the oven door, but I will definitely keep this in mind in case I move and have the same issues as you.
